I’m fascinated with the play of rhythm, depth and light, juxtaposing discord and harmony. I paint with flowing brush strokes, rich in color, in oil paints, on linen or jute. My manner of painting is intuitive and my relationship with color is tactile erotic.
While I use a variety of materials and processes my methodology is consistent. The subject matter generally an intention or a feeling, determines the expression of my work. Many of my themes reflect parallels in natural environments and the human psyche. Often mirroring the complex constellations of relationships and their similarities with abundant nature. I explore the varying facets in terms of color, gesture and texture of the material. My goal is to maintain the -aliveness- the integrity of the material in such a way that the works appear to change or move. The transcendental characteristics of the paintings can be perceived through the momentum in the brush strokes and how they flow beyond the boundaries of the painting. Each painting consist of almost all colors, many layers and a feeling of hope associated with the color palette. The expansionist nature of the painting invites the viewer to participate and ignites their imagination.
Each project often consists of multiple works. I consider the paintings as feelings which reflect a variety of unexpected events and integrate the process of coping with the many layers of life.
